Digital!Healthcare – Funding to support eHealth

Digital!Healthcare supports companies and institutions in making the healthcare system more efficient and patient-friendly.

Digitalization offers many opportunities to improve communication, coordination and cooperation in the healthcare system and to relieve medical staff. The Digital!Healthcare funding program of the Styrian Business Promotion Agency SFG and the Styrian Health Fund supports companies and institutions in developing this area further. The projects should focus on patient-related processes and optimize procedures in outpatient clinics and hospitals, as well as contribute to health promotion, prevention and patient self-management. Digital!Healthcare supports with up to 200,000 euros.


Who is funded?

The funding call is aimed at:

  • Research institutions (university & non-university)
  • Styrian companies of all sizes
  • Health care institutions: private, public, for-profit and non-profit

What is funded?

Funding is available for research and development projects that involve solutions to improve the quality of care and communication between patients and healthcare providers across sector boundaries. The funded eHealth applications must be compatible with the ELGA electronic health record and have a clear added value for all stakeholders.

Eligible costs are:

  • Personnel costs
  • Material and equipment costs
  • Third-party services
  • Travel costs
  • Use of infrastructure and overhead costs

The funding application must be submitted BEFORE the project begins.


How much is funded?

The maximum funding for each project is 200,000 euros.
The eligible project costs for

  • Small enterprises 45% or 60% (AGVO/De-Minimis-VO),
  • Medium-sized companies 35% and 50% respectively (AGVO/De-Minimis-VO),
  • Large companies 25% or 40% (AGVO/De-Minimis-VO).

In case of cooperation between companies or with a research institution, there is a cooperation bonus of 15%. Applicants who are not subject to state aid law can receive 100% of the eligible project costs. The minimum project volume is 50,000 euros.
